You guys should realize by now that the fools that do this poll only see 1 team a year....and......they only vote on a team's record...,they don't have a clue

I understand its just a poll and I don't take polls all that seriously, but if your chosen to be the person to represent your area to do this poll.... Take some pride in what your voting on or let someone else vote for you.

They absolutely vote on team records for the most part. That is not what any poll was designed to be about in any sport.

If those voting absolutely believe the way they voted.... own it. Let us know why your voting like that. I may disagree in the end, but I would respect it because something is behind it.

There is nothing I can see behind some of these votes besides a pretty record. Your rewarding bad scheduling and penalizing those who challenge themselves. That's where I have a big problem.

I won't bash the voters too bad, except for the two that gave Gladstone first place votes in the big school division. Seriously!?! The same Gladstone that ran away from the GNC? The same Gladstone that has beaten Kingsford (1998) and Menominee (2008) once in 20 years?!? They have won big yes. They have beaten 0-3 Manistique, 0-3 Negaunee, and 2-1 Gwinn (both of whose wins are over 0-3 teams). Now don't get me wrong, I am not a Gladstone hater. I am happy for the kids and the community that they are getting some wins. I just can't fathom how a person filling out their poll sheet can put them ahead of schools they can't ever beat because they won a few games over bad teams.

Breaking news: Gladstone has opted out of the big school poll and has joined the small school poll.

Ok. Point made. I'm done.

A poll can't be wrong....it's just someone's opinion. They are absolutely useless and don't mean a thing, no one gets in the playoffs because they are ranked in some poll.

3 things that stick out on this latest poll:

1. Do the voters even pay attention to the outcomes of games played this year??

Newberry defeated Bark River-Harris, and BR-H defeated West Iron County..

so, naturally they have WIC ahead of BR-H, and BR-H is ahead of Newberry..............geee..................that makes perfect sense voters!!!???.....

2. to the voter that had Gladstone as their No. 1 team in the Big Five,.......are they serious???..........do they really believe that the Braves are better than Menominee, Escanaba and Kingsford??..................Seriously???????

3. Voters actually believe that Hancock will beat Marquette??..........UGH!!!!

Do the top 2 teams make the playoff's or just the top one? Oh, that's right, the poll has no meaning whatsoever.

obviously the polls don't determine the playoff teams...............BUT

the folks who are selected to do this voting are doing an injustice by shooking their responsibilites to take the voting seriously........

If they don't want to do their homework...then they need to give up their votes, so that folks who have a clue on what's going on can do the votes

These are the same folks who chose the best players that get after season rewards.....many colleges look at which athletes get votes and awards.......this in turn hurts other athletes who do not get noticed by these voters and are unjustly overlooked.......they don't have a clue on what they are doing.

UP, you are 100% correct that these "writers" don't have a clue, I will say that most college coaches are not looking at awards, as most awards are a popularity contest. Film doesn't lie, that's where these athletes get recruited. Side question, how long will Iron Mountain be down?

Can you imagine if somehow Gladstone beats Esky? That would essentially hand the Barber Trophy to the Braves, which would be their reward for running away from the GNC and refusing to schedule Menominee and Kingsford... two teams they will see in the D5 playoffs.

Some of the media personal reward bad behavior and penalize teams like Marquette for scheduling the tough teams they should schedule. I call it surface rankings. Looks good on the surface until you take the first layer off.
